Reserves
Week 18 SHFC vs Olympia
Wednesday, 21 July 2010 08:51

South Hobart’s Reserves were looking to get back to winning ways against Olympia Warriors after a lacklustre draw with Glenorchy Knights last time out.

Greg Downes returned to the lineup with promising youngsters Dylan Postma, Josh Quigley, Max Clark and Nick Morton on an extended bench.

South were immediately on the front foot when Greg Downes glanced a header inside the far post to take an early lead.  The Olympia defence was again caught out shortly afterwards when a passback to the keeper was chased down by Mizael Linhares Caires with the loose ball falling to Greg who tapped in from close range.

South’s third again came from a defensive lapse when Mizael’s pass split their defence to find Seth Otte who’s powerful strike was parried by the keeper but broke to an unmarked Hugo Bladel who rolled it home under no pressure.

Week 17 SHFC vs Knights Reserves
Tuesday, 13 July 2010 20:49

South were hoping to take some momentum from last week’s solid win over Kingborough into this night fixture against third placed Glenorchy Knights, however squad changes had to be rung again as Nicholas Di Falco, Jo Yeong-Sun and Greg Downes went out and Nick Cuthbertson, Elliott Lovell and ‘Sanga’ Kang came in.

The opening 15 minutes was a tight affair with an arm wrestle in midfield meaning that clear cut chances were scarce until some excellent approach work by Elliott Lovell on the left flank delivered a chance for Seth Otte whose side volley flew just wide of the goals with the Knights keeper stranded. This was followed up shortly after when Song’s shot from 25 metres out just cleared the crossbar.

Week 16 SHFC vs Lions Reserves
Monday, 05 July 2010 09:51

South Hobart’s Reserves went into this match on the back of a disappointing mid-week draw with the TIS so an improved display at home against a Kingborough Lions side which included players with significant senior experience was expected.

With Nick Cuthbertson promoted to the seniors, Greg Downes remained in the lineup with U19 regular, Harry Coomer on the bench and Mark Moncur resuming between the ‘sticks’.

SHFC vs TIS
Thursday, 01 July 2010 19:54
South went into this game with inconsistent recent form whereas the TIS had won their last 4 including some comprehensive victories so it was with some interest that the small crowd at KGV settled in to see how this one would unfold.

South had David Cooper in goals and had also included Jim Pennicott, Andy Brennan and Greg Downes in the squad.

Week 14 SHFC vs Eagles Reserves
Tuesday, 15 June 2010 17:01
Consistency has been an issue for the past few weeks for the Reserves so a trip to Clare Street always posed some risk to South’s 7-week winning streak continuing, even if South had put 11 past New Town Eagle in their last encounter.

Regulars Cam Williams and Elliott Lovell were missing and youngsters Nick Morton, Max Clark and Josh Quigley were included on the extended bench.

Proceedings started brightly enough with David Cooper getting free to head at the Eagles keeper from South’s first corner kick.  Minutes later, Kaka turned a defender inside out in the box but blazed his shot wide from a decent angle.

Week 13 SHFC vs Clarence United
Sunday, 13 June 2010 00:48

While South Hobart Reserves led the Southern Premier League Reserves competition by 9 points heading into this fixture, it still shaped as a crunch game against the only side to take points off the league leaders this season.

While South haven’t been in sparkling form in recent weeks, they welcomed back regular custodian Mark Moncur while Cam Williams and Elliott Lovell resumed their regular starting positions in defence and midfield respectively and Wook Bum Heo ( or ‘Kaka’) was also a quality inclusion.

South hit the ground running when in the 10th minute, a cross from Seth Otte found David Cooper who expertly controlled the ball and shot on the turn to score inside the right hand post.

Week 12 SHFC vs Taroona FC
Monday, 07 June 2010 16:26

The Reserves were missing a number of regulars (Elliott Lovell, Andy King, Callan Paske) for this rather tricky away fixture against Taroona although perhaps the key change was defender Cam Williams who gamely put on the gloves in Mark Moncur’s absence.

The greasy ground conditions and team changes seemed to make South’s approach somewhat tentative which contributed to Taroona taking an early shock lead after confusion in the reshaped defence let Taroona’s senior coach Ben Horgan in.

Week 11 SHFC vs Olympia FC Warriors
Monday, 31 May 2010 12:30

Coach Jed Donaghue reshuffled the deck by bringing in debutantes Song and Chai who had secured international clearances mid week and reintroducing Jeong for this fixture against a bottom of the table Olympia Reserves side.  The inclusions saw Cam Williams move from defence to midfield and Chai play the solo striker role in the absence of Seth Otte who was interstate.
