"South Hobart SFootball Club was founded in 1910. The leading identity in the Club’s foundation was Mr J J B Honeysett who was described as a “Retired Civil Servant of the Imperial Services.”

The first match played by the club was on the 21st May 1910 at 3pm versus Westralia, which South won 4 goals to 1. The occasion celebrated the opening of the new “Association Ground” at Washington Street South Hobart.

The venue has remained the Club’s principal ground however the Clubrooms and training facility are now located at Wellesley Park, Wellesley Street, South Hobart.

In 1910 South Hobart together with St George, Hobart and teams from the steamships Paloona and Westralia made up the British Football Association."
