A Chance to Say THANKS

No sporting club or volunteer organisation turns 100 without the support and involvement of literally hundreds of volunteers. Players, families, supporters and sponsors all ensure the success of any club and South Hobart owes thanks and appreciation to so many amazing men and women over the past 100 years.

Without the players who firstly come to play we want to say a huge cheer of support. Looking at the timeline of the club you can easily see that the club has had tough times, were goals were very scarce let alone victory. It’s during these tough times in particular our hat goes off to the players who continued to line up to play, the coaches and staff who still gave of there time and the parents who still encouraged their children to play with the local club.

At every game you only have to look up and down the sidelines, or to the southern end of stands to see the same people who love and support our club with there time and money at the gate. Every single one of you is fabulous and without you and the supporters before you SHSC would not be celebrating 100 years.

Thanks must go to the amazing people who still support the club with their time and money long after their own children have grown up and no longer play with the club. How amazing are the true believers who week in week out stand in the canteen, collect money at the gate or wash the strips. What club can run without the behind scene people who complete the unattractive tasks of administration and management, often into the long hours of the night and long after the thrill of the game is over.

Our life member’s board is testimony to the incredible people who have called South Hobart Soccer Club there home, too many stories to share but all deserving of huge honour and thanks from the rest of us at the club. To the families who loyal support is now generational - grandparen, children and now grandchildren who continue to play and support the club. Who we home will continue with family connections for the next 100 years. Go South.

When looking at the backbone of a club you can go past the sponsors. Our sponsors have truly been AMAZING and have supported us over the years having always been generous in their commitment to ensure the success and longevity of the club. Thank you so much for financial support, items for the raffle and providing transport and what other items we needed over the years. Everything you continue to do and have done we give a huge thank you. It is our promise that as a club we will continue to give as much support back to people, business and community that has always supported us.

So finally three cheers and happy birthday to all or us at South Hobart Soccer Club – what a great club filled with great people now and throughout the years!!
