Week 11 SHFC vs Olympia Warriors FC

South Hobart vs. Hobart Olympic Match Report as told by Tommo Bilson

The boys all turned up to the game looking good with the new tracksuit, it made us look like a team instead of the sometimes unusual attire worn by some. Everyone had a positive outlook on the game so as usual we were here to claim the 3 points. We started with the pre-game ritual of having a little kick and juggle in a circle where Nick Simpson was once again showing off his pre-match skills. This week we had keeper Nico return from injury to boost the squad. We started the game slowly and as a result conceded the first goal of the game, but after about 15 minutes we started to get into it. At the half time break the scores were 1 all as Max Howcroft had managed to sneak one in to level the scores.

After halftime we started to dominate controlling most of the possession and knocking the ball around nicely. We had many opportunities to score without actually managing to sink one. Our 3rd goal came from a ball played through to Dylan Postman who with superb vision and skill dummied it perfectly for Max to finish nicely. The funny thing was Dylan said that he would do this before the game and I said it would be awesome if he did thinking that he never would. Unfortunately I can’t remember the 2nd goal scored by Dylan although I’m sure it really wasn’t all that good like everything he does. While we generally couldn’t seem to find the back of the net for most of the game it was a satisfying win for South. Final score 3-1.

Week 10 SHFC vs Knights

The Under 19 lads played against third placed Glenorchy Knights this week on the Saturday before the Gala day, and unfortunately for Team South things did not go according to plan with a loss 2 - 3 to the Knights the final score. Although a loss Coach Spinner was proud of the boys for playing with great team spirit and putting 100% into their game. Our goal scorer was Felix Kang who put away two beautiful shots to keep us in the game but Andrew Robb, Ashley Garland and Harrison Thomas scored for Knights ensuring the win for the visitors.

Week 9 SHFC vs Kingborough Lions

The day started off with everyone arriving at the game awake and lively. Especially me buzzing with energy, with the exception of Tommo looking seedy as ever. The game kicked off with a fantastic header from a Kingborough player giving them the upper hand in the first half. Tommo kept us in the game with his pressure and intensity, as well as a typical Henry Jones goal, lobbing it over the keeper from outside the box. The second half started with fantastic pressure from the whole team, shutting down every pass made that eventually lead South to score again.

Week 8 SHFC vs Tilford Zebras

It was a fine and sunny Saturday when the boys rolled in.  Dill set the scene for the game by showing off a range of “clever” tricks before kick-off.  As an inspirational method it seemed to work - there was some good play and we had the Zebras on the run well before half time. Some good mid-game talking between Tommo and Nick made for a nice formation. It was another week without Michael, which put pressure on Cumma once again - but he rose to the occasion. There were two hat-tricks to add to the score board.  One was by Dave who played a fantastic game once he understood what off side meant. Felix also played well scoring himself the other hat-trick.

Week 7 SHFC vs Eagles Match Report as told by Dave Wooley

Squidy didn’t feel the need to wear shoes that day, he turned up looking like a right Squid ‘ead from South Arm, all he needed was a pair of tie-dyed pants and it would’ve been a sealed deal. As the numbers of South Hobart boys in hoods and beaters slowly dribbled into Wellesley, we became grateful of Max Rintoul’s absence, as the last thing we needed on top of our already average appearance was a bloke in thongs who plays football in Asics trainers; Dillon’s smart haircut wasn’t even enough to match the looks of our opponents, The eagles were wearing tuxedos and climbing out of limousines as if they were going out for dinner, something that every man in the team can safely say I would never and certainly have never done…
